Examine how meiosis allows DNA to be divided into gametes?

Meiosis includes the same beginning steps as mitosis except when the dna is forming from the chromatin, sections of the dna are crossed over between the two cells...sperm and egg. During metaphase I, the chromosomes are in pairs and then split, while in metaphase II, each cromosome is split in half in order to go to each separate cell.
