Why is it that?

it seems s gain their trademark lisp after coming out? I have maybe 3 or 4 acquaintances that claim to be gay and before coming out spoke lisp-free, but as soon as everybody knows theres extra S's and higher pitches. I know this is a generalization, but it's all I have to go on as I don't know anyone who is gay without it. Any explanation?
